Academics
At ECA we believe knowledge and wisdom begins with and comes from God. Our overarching goal is that ECA students develop a biblical world view for life. We believe that we have a faculty and staff that views what they do as a call on their lives. We also believe that we use a curriculum that puts God in the center and places the focus on a biblical foundation. The creators, authors, and designers of the A-Beka curriculum have the same philosophy as we do at ECA.
Preschool
The building foundation for children begin in these pre-kindergarten years. We offer a half day and full day K3 and K4 program. The half day program is to develop a love for learning at a very young age. The program is designed to develop a child’s cognitive, social, emotional, physical and spiritual growth. At this young age, children are taught the importance of God’s Word. The full day program is an extended stay which includes lunchtime, nap, and afternoon play activities. K3 materials provide each child to learn at his own development level and ability through songs, crafts, circle time and play centers. Motor skills, social development, number, and letter awareness and recognition are also incorporated throughout the day with the help of many manipulatives. Students are also taught phonemic awareness as the child begins to understand letter sounds.
Kindergarten
K5 is the bridge between pre-kindergarten and a child’s elementary years. The day begins with pledges, a Bible lesson, and prayer. A strong emphasis on God’s Word is woven throughout the curriculum which begins teaching a biblical worldview at a young age. Phonetic development along with an understanding of reading and writing is practiced daily. Math is presented through manipulatives and interaction using various tools and media. Students will also have specified reading times as well as physical education.
Elementary (1st-6th Grades)
The elementary years encompass the teaching of God’s Word through core subjects. It is taught on a daily basis in the classroom where teachers present a biblical worldview. ECA teachers profess to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and desire to partner with the parents to ensure the growth and success of our students.
Elementary students receive a well-balanced education that include the core subjects of Bible, English, math, history, and science. They will also participate in reading, physical education, chapel, and recess. Students will also be involved in various STEM/STEAM activities throughout the year. These projects teach critical thinking skills and involve hands-on learning. Elementary classes participate in field trips that relate to the principles and concepts they are learning.
Middle & High School (7th-12th Grades)
Excel Christian Academy has designed its middle school/high school programs to provide educational experiences that challenge each student socially, academically, and spiritually and prepares them with the necessary tools to succeed in whatever post-secondary pursuits they desire. Curriculum includes mathematics, literature and composition, science, history, US Constitution, Bible, music, physical education, and electives. Students will enjoy a sense of community that encourages personal friendships, character development, and biblical discipleship. Consistent with our mission of discipleship, it is also our desire that graduates will have embraced a Christian worldview through our academic program. While preparing our students for any post-secondary experience they may choose, we intentionally encourage our graduates to consider higher education options which will continue to build and solidify their understanding of a Christian worldview and prepare them to live their lives to glorify God. (2 Corinthians 5:9)
